When we walked pass Bienville House, I said to Walter, "Lets go in to check out this place. I like the look of the exterior".I was not disappointed. As soon as we entered this boutique hotel, we were charmed by both the interior & exterior design. Rich in texture, enchanting hand-painted murals, and gracious furnishings graced the interior, providing an elegant antique French Quarter charm.
Amid the shade of lush magnolias and graceful trailing plant covered balconies in the rooms exterior, this hotel's ironwork is definately an outward sign of old world ambiance. By blending the old and new, this historic 83 room hotel, recently renovated to offer the modern comforts and conveniences is world class caliber. From the tropical flagstone courtyard and pool to its four welcoming sundecks, this hotel provides an idyllic setting for their guest's enjoyment.
After our unsavory experience at Muriel's Jackson Square the night before, we were glad we came to dine at Iris. This restaurant serves French, Italian and Asian - influenced dishes with a local New Orleans flair. As soon as we walked into Iris, the maitre d' hotel greeted us with a charming smile and enquired if we were staying at the hotel? I wished we had moved to Bienville House which is charming and situated in a quite location, within strolling distance to the busy French Quarter. Since we were in the city for a few days, we decided to continue staying at the noisy Sonata Hotel. When we return to New Orleans again, we'll definitely be checking into at Bienville House.
We had dinner by the poolside which was a lovely experience. The food were delicious and well prepared. Walter kept raving about how delicious and wonderfully prepared his food were. The waiter was not intrusive and came enquiring at the correct moments when we needed service. A vast difference from Muriel's Jackson Square. Iris is a dining establishment, we'll highly recommend to our friends when they are in New Orleans.
